We at Guanghua take a student-centered approach and try to engage everyone to the fullest extent. We have designed our curriculum based on the concept that each activity should be student-oriented, and that teachers, playing the role of leaders, helpers, and guardians, should encourage students to be proactive life-long learners. We believe that the students’ successes and failures are also our successes and failures. We encourage every student who possesses an enterprising spirit to join the Guanghua family where each student’s distinctive characteristics will be cherished and respected. We believe that the academic potential of every child will only be inspired through the most appropriate education which encourages proactive learning. With a suitable education system and their own efforts, the students in our College will be able to grow into responsible, truth-seeking and innovative young people who are ready for their future of boundless possibilities.

王慧琴 博士 校监School Supervisor Dr. WANG Huiqin(Nancy)

获南昌大学理学硕士及工学博士学位。曾在大学工作长达10年,副教授职称。

从2007年开始,王慧琴博士开始从事国际课程的教学及教学管理工作,熟悉国际教育体系。长年一线的教学经验为她的教学管理、课程研发提供了强有力的支持。王慧琴博士对于每个学生,都是给予无微不至的关爱,不但在学业上耐心指导,更能倾听每个学生的心声。她希望学校的教育能更加关注到每个学生的个性化需求,启发学生可贵的好奇心。王慧琴博士积极倡导中国的国际教育必须融合东西方教育的精华,创造出更适合中国学生的国际教育体系。

After graduated from Nanchang University with a Master of Science Degree, and a Ph.D. in engineering, Dr. Wang Huiqin has worked at the university for nearly 10 years as an associate professor. Having been involved in international curriculum teaching and management since 2007, Dr. Wang is well-experienced in how international education systems operate. The first-hand teaching experience gathered during all these years cultivated her teaching management and curriculum development skills. Dr. Wang cares for every student by giving academic instructions in a patient manner and reflecting on every student’s aspirations. She expects that school education can be tailored to every student’s requirement to a deeper extent so as to encourage their innate curiosity. Dr. Wang is an active advocate of the belief that China’s international education must draw from the merits of both Chinese and Western education to form an international education system that is comprehensive and tailored to Chinese students’ needs.

章良 校长Principal - Zhang Liang(John)

香港中文大学物理学硕士、中国科学技术大学物理学学士

自2003年开始从事A Level、IB等国际课程的研究和实践,具有十多年的国际化学校管理和国际课程教学经验:

2004-2009在深圳国际交流学院担任数学物理教师、升学指导主管、教学及学生事务负责人等职。

2009-2014担任上海市实验学校剑桥教育中心负责人。

2014年至今兼任光华教育集团教育总监。

通过引导学生进行职业规划与人生规划,确立远大目标,启发学生立志成为某一领域的优秀合作者或杰出领导人才;诚信做人,让每一位学生成为值得信任的卓越人才;突出日常规范的自主管理,培养学生自律意识;鼓励独立思考,培养有自己想法的学生。

Bachelor of Physics from University of Science & Technology of China. ,and Master of Philosophy in Physics at Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Since 2003, Mr. Zhang staarted his research of international curriculum such as GCSE/A Level and IB. 2004-2009, he was responsible for teaching and student affairs in the Shenzhen College of International Education.
2009-2014 He was the Head of Shanghai Experimental School, Cambridge International Education Center.
Since 2014, He has been the Director of Education in Guanghua Education Group.
Guide students to carry out career planning and life planning and establish ambitious goals.
Inspire them to become outstanding partners or leaderships; cultivate their integrity and protrude the independent management of daily norms.
Let every student has awareness of self-discipline and be a trustworthy person of excellence.
Encourage independent thinking, and help them to make decision by themselves.

陈广适 副校长Vice-Principal CHEN Guangshi(Cynthia)

宾夕法尼亚大学教育学硕士,华东政法大学英语学士。

当还是学生时,陈老师就参加了许多教学活动,这些活动培养了她对教育的热情。在宾夕法尼亚大学学习资源中心为期一年的实习期间,她做了一系列学术讲座,目的是帮助留学生适应美国大学的学习模式。

在这个过程中,她深深地意识到留学生面临的学术挑战,当她毕业回国后,就立即投身于国际教育事业。

她相信,实际应用是英语教学的重要组成部分,因此她把许多在西方大学创立的学术规则融合进了她的教学中,希望帮助光华的学生做好准备,更好适应今后在国外大学的生活。

Mrs. Chen graduated from the School of Foreign Languages at East China University of Political Science and Law with a BA in English, and went on to complete her MA in Education at the University of Pennsylvania.

While still a student, she was engaged in a variety of teaching activities and developed a strong passion for education. During her one-year internship at the Learning Resources Center at the University of Pennsylvania she gave a series of academic lectures aimed at assisting overseas students in their struggle to adapt to US universities. In the process she became deeply aware of the academic challenges faced by overseas students, and once she returned to China after graduation she engaged herself in international education. She believes that practical application is an essential part of English teaching, and integrates many of the academic rules found in western universities into her teaching in the hope of getting the young generation of Guanghua students better prepared for the college life in foreign countries.

Mark Robert Kurban 学术总监Head Teacher Mark Robert Kurban

Kurban先生在美国南加州大学获得天文学学士学位、在美国加州州立大学北岭分校获得物理学硕士学位。

他在中国多年,他教过A Level物理和AP微积分,是成都国际学校的教务主任。他不仅是一位卓有成就的教师,而且是一位在世界级科学期刊上发表过文章的研究者,并在日本的大学里举办过研讨会,教授研究者如何成功地发表科学论文。

他还是我校剑桥大学考试委员会授权的(PDQ)中心项目的负责人。

用Kurban老师他自己的话说:“我认为在教学,就像讲故事,要就某个主题,让学生想象自己就置身于特定的情境下,身临其境。这是吸引学生,让他们集中精力,进行批判性思考的最好方法。”

Mr. Kurban earned a bachelor’s degree in astronomy from the University of Southern California, and a master’s degree in physics from California State University at Northridge. During his many years in China he has taught A-Level Physics and AP Calculus, and was the academic director of an international school in Chengdu. He is not only an accomplished teacher but also a researcher who has published articles in world-class scientific journals, and has given seminars at universities in Japan to teach researchers how to publish scientific papers. He is the leader of our school's Professional Development Qualifications (PDQ) program accredited by Cambridge International Examinations.

In his own words Mr. Kurban says: “I believe in teaching a lesson as though it were a story, making students imagine themselves in particular situations related to a topic. This is the best way to engage students, keep them focused, and make them think critically”.
