The club fair was spread over more than two basketball courts and even that was almost not enough to contain everyone, as students arrived in huge numbers to see what the club program has to offer this year.
The fair was a time for the 71 club presidents to show their skills and plans for the year and they didn’t disappoint, with impressive demonstrations of talent in every direction you looked. Despite the light drizzle, the student’s main complaint was “Jo, there are too many clubs I don’t know which to choose!” This problem was reflected in the overflowing sign-up sheets for each club with some clubs asking for extra sheets to fit in the names they collected!
With such a wide range of clubs available, I’m sure GHCIS students will be able to find a new hobby, learn a new skill or just get the opportunity to relax with some friends while doing something they love.
I’m delighted with how the presidents and mentors represented themselves in the club fair. The student leaders now have the opportunity to develop their organisational skills and make relationships. I’m sure they’ll do great, and I can’t wait to see the clubs in action when they begin next week!
今年，辩论社将由我和Luke老师担任指导。除了在本月尾打算主办一场新生赛，我们也打算参加NHSDLC（中国高中生美式辩论联赛）的比赛。秋季的辩题是Countries should impose price controls on the pharmaceutical industry. (各国应该控制药价)，希望我们可以通过这个辩题更理解制药行业和医疗系统。当然，我们也希望新辩手们能很快的“学会”辩论，老辩手们能在这季的比赛有突破。
